Tony Jackson Jr
Top-5 finish in ARMI Freedom Classic finale at Salina Highbanks
Tony Jackson Jr. made the short trip to Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) on Wednesday afternoon to kick off the four-day stint with the Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association (MLRA). Drawing 36 cars for the Midweek Mayhem, Jackson Jr. was taken out in his heat race while battling for the lead that transferred him into the B-Main. Getting in another tangle in the 12-lap consolation event, Tony was forced to use a provisional into the main event. With $5,000 on the line, Jackson Jr. advanced through the field 13 spots in the 40-lapper to place ninth. (Todd Boyd photo)
On Thursday afternoon at Outlaw Motor Speedway (Oktaha, Okla.), Tony secured his spot into the $3,000-to-win A-Main with a third place finish in his heat. After jumping the cushion early in the 40-lap affair, Jackson Jr. drove from the tail of the field up to a seventh place finish when the checkered flag flew.
The following night at Salina Highbanks Speedway (Pryor Creek, Okla.) for the two-day ARMI Freedom Classic, Jackson Jr. fell one spot short of a transfer position in his heat with a fifth place finish. Streaking to a 12-lap consolation victory, Tony locked into the 18th-starting position for the main event. Coming one spot shy of a Top-5 finish, Jackson Jr. advanced through the field 12 spots to register a sixth place outing.
For the $5,000-to-win finale on Saturday evening, Tony followed up the second fastest time in his group behind Aaron Marrant with a 10-lap heat race victory. Holding his spot for all 40-laps of the feature, Jackson Jr. notched a third place finish behind Johnny Scott and Terry Phillips with Jesse Stovall and Chad Simpson rounding out the Top-5.
Tony is currently in third in the latest MLRA point standings.
