“It’s pretty cool to claim another Lucas Oil MLRA title. I just want to thank Casey and Tony and Luke. They are who gets this thing ready during the week and my wife and little girl—that’s just as important as anything else letting you be out there and do it," Jackson Jr. said. “We’re going to race Barry Wright’s House Car this weekend at Whynot (Motorsports Park), so I’m looking forward to that and am grateful for the opportunity.”
On Saturday afternoon, Tony Jackson Jr. traveled to Tri-City Speedway (Granite City, Ill.) to compete in the rain-shortened Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) doubleheader.
Drawing 25 cars for the MLRA Championship finale, Tony clocked in seventh fastest overall before placing third in his heat race. Starting the $7,000-to-win A-Main in seventh, Jackson Jr. improved two spots in the 40-lap affair to register a fifth-place finish. He trailed Brian Shirley, Frank Heckenast Jr., Gordy Gundaker, and Garrett Alberson to the checkers.
His fifth-place finish on Saturday secured his second-career Lucas Oil MLRA points title.
