Jackson Jr. continues season with Winter Nationals at Ocala and All-Tech
Tony Jackson Jr. shifted his attention to a pair of Florida tracks over the past week as the Speedweeks portion of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) schedule moved south.
First up on Tuesday, Jackson’s Capital Race Cars No. 25 entry was one of 40 Super Late Models in the pits at Ocala Speedway in the Sunshine State. Jackson took eighth in his heat race and sixth in his B-Main on the 3/8-mile oval, ending his evening before the 40-lap, $10,000-to-win feature.
However, he would qualify for the week's three remaining feature events.
Another $10,000 was up for grabs at Ocala on Wednesday, bringing 43 LOLMDS entries to the track. Jackson used a third-place showing in his heat to start 10th in the 40-lap main event. He ran into trouble early in the attrition-filled race and ultimately came home 20th.
A trip to All-Tech Raceway (Lake City, Florida) was next on the docket to close out Winter Nationals week.
On Friday, 49 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series drivers descended on the half-mile for a $12,000-to-win program. After finishing third in his heat race, Jackson rolled off 15th to start the 50-lap feature. He ran as high as 11th, but eventually settled for a 22nd-place result.
Finally, Saturday night saw 47 LOLMDS Super Late Model stars in the pits at All-Tech looking to score the $15,000 victory. Jackson took fifth in his heat, but grabbed the checkered flag in his B-Main to claim the 18th starting position for the night’s 50-lap showcase. He picked up two spots in the race and finished 16th, his best result of the week.
